Sage Francis and J.Lately on The Catalyst Main Stage

Underground Hip-Hip hop royalty Sage Francis has embarked on a massive tour in support of his recently released studio album entitled Copper Gone.  On May 25th, 2015 Sage will stop in downtown Santa Cruz for one night along with fellow Strange Famous heavy hitter  J. Lately, don’t miss out.

Sage Francis

Sage Francis is widely considered one of our generation’s greatest lyricists. His career derives mainly from gifted wordplay which creates vivid narratives to instigate as well as inspire, but since it often derives from an accumulation of public disdain and personal turmoil, it’s more about storming the castle than about watching the throne. He recently released his first studio album in 4 years, called Copper Gone, available in all formats here

J. Lately

With no pretend marketing scheme or gimmick, J. Lately distinguishes himself with his classic boom bap style and laid back flow. A true appreciation for music, along with the unique ability to put everyday life into a relatable perspective has allowed him to flourish in the local Bay Area scene.

His latest full-length album, “Daydreams & Warm Nights”, received attention from blogs such as 2dopeboyz.com, djbooth.net, kevinnottingham.com, and ashleyoutrageous.com, as well as many other internet outlets. Including features from Zumbi (of Zion I) and Von Pea (of Tanya Morgan), and with production from DJ Dahi, Jansport J, and Jonathan Lowell providing the backdrop, the album serves as Lately’s strongest piece of work to date. With a patient yet persistent attitude he continues work on a variety of future projects, including collaborative albums with Sacramento emcee J.Good and North Bay emcee Trey C.  “It’s not about rushing it” explains Lately, “it’s about quality music and progress”.

Angelo is insanely excited to bring this show to Santa Cruz, come out, have some fun, and feed your brain.
